Code of Conduct(EN/JP)

EDP values the participation of each stakeholder (including Tokyo-tech students, other universities’ students, professional trainees, and corporate partners), and the EDP faculty want all of them to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Accordingly, all stakeholders are expected to show respect and courtesy to others.

To make clear what is expected, everyone is required to conform to the following Code of Conduct and Anti Harassment Policy throughout this class.

Code of Conduct /

Dance with Ambiguity /

When dealing with complex themes, no one knows the right answer. Ambiguity is a natural state, and you should not avoid but pursue actively it. This will allow you to make happen what you thought was impossible.

Ask for help with humility /

Although no one knows the right answer, asking questions early avoids many problems later, so questions are encouraged. Those who are asked should be responsive and helpful.

Be respectful /

Disagreement is no excuse for poor manners. We work together to do our best to solve problems. We don’t allow frustration to turn into a personal attack. A community where people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one.

Build trust and collaborate /

Collaboration is essential for this class. Collaboration improves the quality of your work and yourself. Internally and externally, we encourage you to build sound collaboration. To work collaboratively, you need a relationship of trust. If you regularly report on your progress and actively disclose your information, you can gain the trust of others. You should involve stakeholders as early as possible.

Have a strong sense of ownership /

Any decision you take will affect your users and colleagues. Make sure to be in the other person’s position, listen to the voice, and consider the consequences of your actions. However, nothing comes out of a passive attitude only worrying about your actions. Let’s roll up your sleeves and do your best.

Anti Harassment Policy /

EDP is dedicated to providing a harassment-free class experience for everyone. All communication should be appropriate for people of many different backgrounds. We do not tolerate harassment of stakeholders in any form.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity, and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion.
  • Sexual images in public spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Inappropriate contact

Be careful in the words that you choose. Remember that sexist, racist, and other exclusionary jokes can be offensive to those around you. Offensive jokes are not appropriate and will not be tolerated under any circumstance in this class.

Stakeholders asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If there are no improvements, we will cancel your registration for this class.

Thank you for helping to make this a welcoming, friendly space for all.
